Literature Study September 13, 2009Uncle (Chapter 17)
In this chapter we read about Fern and Avery at the fair. They were given some money to explore the fair “. . .where they could be happy and free to do as they pleased.” (p.121). Mr Arable says that, “. . . they’ve got to grow up some time.” (p.121). Share a time when you felt grown up and got to choose what you wanted to do. How did you feel at the time?
We also meet the large pig called Uncle. Wilbur is upset when he hears that Uncle is a larger pig than he is.
* Does size matter? Is big always better? Give examples.

No,size does not matter and bigger doesn’t always mean better because if you had a tall and a small kid you would think that the tall kid would win but the small kid could win aswell

I would feel happy because my parents is not the boss of me.Also we buy things and can play at home all the time
September 13th, 2009 at 10:39 pm
Size can matter somtimes like how for some of the chapter the zokemans were tying to make Willber grow size so he tasted good at cristmas
September 13th, 2009 at 10:40 pm
Sometimes size matters like when my computer tower fell on my Mp3 player and my Mp3 player smashed open.

I believe that the size of animal dosen’t matter, somtimes being big is bad like being big can mean that the animal is cubilant.
I think being small, fast and healthy is better than being big.Small things are also radiant, creepy, cautious and harmless like a mouse.

I will fell happy that I’m at the fair but if Mr Arable said that in my face I will feel so sad. With Uncle he sure is big AND fat size dosen’t matter because if they are so big AND fat they will has a heart attack. So size dosen’t never matter.
September 14th, 2009 at 12:03 am
I got to do what I wanted when everybody was outside.I felt really grown up and special.
September 14th, 2009 at 12:09 am
Fern and Avery would be happy in the fair were they will be able to go on rides and eat as much as they like. When Wilbur hears obout Uncle he feels sad because Uncle is lager and it dosen’t matter about the sizeand big isen’t always better.

I felt grown up when I went to Luna Park and I couldn run around freely spending money little by little.I felt glad and happy that I could be freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee yay for meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!heheheeeeeeeee!
September 14th, 2009 at 4:14 am
I felt grown up at disneyworld because I could go on rides and have a lot of fun but some times rides do have to depend on height. So it can sometimes matter by size but it doesn’t need to be important all the time.
September 15th, 2009 at 10:18 pm
I think size does matter because if someone was fat it would be unhealthy for them and being to skinny is bad to that’s is why people should not be to skinny and not to fat.
And the last time i felt free was when i was in Lebanon because then i copuld run in the village without my mum or dad to hold my hand i gope i can go to Lebanon again next year or the year after because my family go every 2 to 3 years
September 15th, 2009 at 10:21 pm
I believe that size matters sometimes because if something
is very big and it breaks and smashes open it will take time to fix. I also believe being small is healthy because
it’s a lot easier to run fast and better than being big.
September 15th, 2009 at 10:21 pm
It doesn’t matter on your size and a saying is can’t judge a book by it’s cover and you can’t say willba will lose because he is smaller than the other pig uncle and uncle is bigger than willba.
September 15th, 2009 at 10:22 pm
I felt grown up when i went to the six flags and spend some time to my self.
I dont think big size is better i think it is worse because if the pig was homer pig he woud want to eat it because he is so big and also it is worse because the judge’s will like wilber better because judges like skinney better.
September 15th, 2009 at 10:23 pm
I think size does not matter. If “Uncle” was very dirty and Wilbur was very clean the judges might think Wibur is better.
September 15th, 2009 at 11:49 pm
It was so fun on the rides because i got to go by my self
and i felt like a grown up and special.

I was in peer suport when we had to be split into pairs for making turtles. I was with a young girl named Jessica. I helped her so I felt grown up. I felt happy and proud.
September 16th, 2009 at 9:35 pm
The first time I felt grown up was when I helped a little boy in peer support to cut out his turtle an helped him to write,I felt very grown up and very proud.

Heeeeeeeellllllllloooooooooooo!
I felt grown up when it was my reconciliation & I wore lipstick & my mums earings & high-heels & EVERYTHING! I got to choose what to say to the priest & where to sit just like my MUMMY!
Size doesn’t matter sometimes well… except for the time my youngest brother broke my littles brothers’s DS the DS lite & the old one (Now I have to share my DS but I’m saving up for a DSi). TONS of times my littles brother (One year younger than me) has tried fighting my youngest brother (4 years younger than me) for the DS (this was the day the 1st one half broke). Then they both started pulling one end each &…… SNAP! my mum had to sticky tape it back together but it didn’t have to be sticky taped. Then my youngest brother ruined the top screen & then broke it all together. Then my little brother got my uncle’s DS FREE! Our youngest brother threw it on my Grandma’s tiles a week after & then 2 months after he had broken it all together…. AGAIN!
And so that little 4 year old kid is stronger than a 7 year old!

I feel grown up when I play football.
September 16th, 2009 at 9:53 pm
Hey y’all,
I felt grown up when in 2007 my family, friends and I went to Goldcoast and I went on the big 100 metre high rollercoaster where there was like a river of water down the bottom. Guess what? It was when I was only 7.
September 16th, 2009 at 10:51 pm
Sometimes size matters becauseif a computer fell on an iPod Touch it would smash open and will take a lot of time to fix and if an iPod Touch fell on a computer the computer would not even wiggle and it will not need fixing.
September 16th, 2009 at 10:52 pm
A time when I felt grown up was when I went to a party where my parents weren’t there, and I could have a lot of fun. I felt excited because I could play with my friends thouroghly. I could make a decision of what to eat and what to drink.
I think size doesn’t matter. For example, a student that was… in… year 2.. racing against a studnent in year… 9. The year 2 student would be shorter, of course, and the year 9 student would be taller, of course. but, the year two student could be faster than the year 9 student. It’s just like one time my sister (who was in year 4) raced around the school against a year 2 person….. and guess what? The year 2 won. So size doesn’t matter.

A time when I felt grown up was when I went to a St.Christopher’s Fete last year. I danced with my dancing group ‘Dance Ink’. I felt very grown up performing one of our dances in front alot of people.
I think size doesn’t matter and that bigger is better I think it is about the personality. But because people don’t know Uncle’s personality, they think Uncle is the best pig in the world just because of his size.
September 16th, 2009 at 10:55 pm
I felt grown up at ‘LunaPark’&’Jamberoooooooooooooooo’because I could do whatever ride I wanted to go on which is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 16th, 2009 at 10:57 pm
If I was at the fair I wouldn’t wast my time doing nothing, I would run around really fast, do whatever I want and be free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And anyway, no one is the boss of you because you’re the boss of yourself!
Just because Uncle is big, doesn’t matter, Wilbur could still win .. Maybe.
September 16th, 2009 at 10:59 pm
I felt grown up when I went on a very big ride on the Mine Train myself.I think size does not matter because you cannot help being born small.Big can be better but not always. For example, pretend that there was a small boy who knows a lot and a big boy that knows a little bit.

September 17th, 2009 at 1:15 am
it dose not matter if you are small it is about who is good.
September 17th, 2009 at 1:16 am
The fair was good because we get to be by my self andit was a fun day
September 17th, 2009 at 1:18 am
It doesn’t matter what size you are or how big or small or how little you are.If you are small it doesn’t matter you’ll grow bigger, stronger and clever.
September 17th, 2009 at 1:19 am
Big is not always good becuase you get slower , dirty
and you can,t play many sports and you forget things.
September 22nd, 2009 at 5:25 am
It doesn’t matter if your big because you can be as big as a tree but you won’t rule the world. You are not left out, there are many people in the world out there that could even be smaller than you. Small people also have their own talents. You could be better than them in other ways.

The last time I felt grown up was when I got to go up to the corner shop which was about 20 to 30 houses from my street and I got some cream for my grandma. I felt very responsible for my self.
September 24th, 2009 at 10:26 pm
I felt grown up by going on scary rides and I felt strong not going on baby rides I had to go on with my mum and dad. I like going with my friends because they’re more fun but, they let me go on the baby rides and they say this is a really scary and when it’s a scary ride the push me and I have to go by my self that’s why I think friends are more fun.
September 29th, 2009 at 9:42 pm
It doesn’t matter if you are big, small, fat or skinny.
September 29th, 2009 at 9:49 pm
I have felt grown up when I was in Disney World and got to choose any ride I would want to ride.I didn’t want to go on some rides but one of the rides that I didn’t want to go on were my best ones that I rode.
September 29th, 2009 at 9:52 pm
I felt like a grown up was when I was in charge of our pet guinea pigs while my brother (who was in charge of them) was on a hike for scouts so he left me in charge but he could have chosen my other brother who is older than me. I felt a little bit scared but also very proud of myself. That is when I felt like a grown up.
September 29th, 2009 at 10:12 pm
I feel good on big rides
